The Bundilla Scout Camp is situated in Winston Hills, about a 10-minute drive north of Paramatta and 30 minutes west of Sydney. Its current facilities have accommodation for more than 100 people and features 2 semi-commercial kitchens, dining rooms, meeting rooms, large camp area, fireplace, and a chapel. It hosts several Scout Groups, family and school camps and functions.

Purpose of the Position

The Cleaner Maintenance position is fundamental in ensuring the cleaning of facilities and maintenance of grounds at Bundilla Scout Camp are consistently maintained to an excellent standard for Customers, Scouts Members, Parents, Volunteers, staff, and other visitors/ users to enjoy.

Responsibilities & Duties

Cleaning

• Clean all buildings which are used ensuring that the cleaning process includes emptying the trash, high dusting, de cobwebbing, sanitising, spot cleaning, restocking supplies, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, refilling all hand hygiene units, removal of liners and reline all waste containers.

• Manage the washing and drying of used lined provided by the camp when necessary.

• Ensure the cleaners storage shed is always clean, tidy, and organised.

• Ensure the cleaner’s vehicle is always well organised and tidy.

• Ensure appliances provided are always kept clean and in working order.

• Use cleaning products provided safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Carry out other duties related to the presentation of the centre as required by the Centre Coordinator.

• Ensure that all work undertaken at the camp is done with due regard to environmental sensitivity.

Maintenance

• Ensure the Camp is well maintained, presentable and safe pre and post bookings.

• Assist in general maintenance of the Camp as directed.

• Assist the Centre Coordinator to prepare the grounds in response to bushfire risk in accordance with guidelines set out by the Rural Fire Service.

• Ensure that the cleared areas on the site are maintained in a presentable manner especially regarding grass cutting.

• Assist with the implementation of a program of weed eradication at the Camp.

• Report damage or defects to the Centre Coordinator so that arrangements can be made to make repairs.

• Instruct users of the grounds not to damage trees or plant life or harass animal life.

• Assist with the implementation of Risk Assessments for equipment.

• Carry out other duties related to the operation of the Camp as required.

Public Relations

• Maintain positive public relations with all visiting customers.

• Maintain good relations with all participants, teachers, carers, and leaders.

• Ensure self-presentation and standards of behaviour is always satisfactory.

Key Capabilities & Requirements

Qualification, Training & Experience

• High School Certificate or equivalent.

• Experience in cleaning and general maintenance preferably in a bush environment.

• Experience with performing minor handyman repairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Reasonable level of fitness to keep up with the physical demands of the position.

• Understanding of and ability to apply WHS principles.

• Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety in all areas of the Camp.

• Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Proactive; shows initiative and innovative thinking.

• Excellent time management and flexible.

Essential Requirements

• Right to work in Australia

• Current National Police Check

• Current Working with Children Check

• Mandatory Training

• Current First Aid Certificate

• Current CPR Certificate

• Current Drivers Licence

Clearances

Prior to commencement of duties, the Cleaner Maintenance is required to hold a current Working with Children Check clearance (Employed), provide results of a National Police Check and have undergone a background check.
